Energy And Persistence Conquer All Things

“Energy and persistence conquer all things.”

~ Benjamin Franklin

I’ve always been fascinated by how many Americans quote their presidents.  It must be a part of the socialisation and education in American schools.  Along with the 52 States you need to learn 52 quotes. It’s kind of sweet, this passive patriotism, and yet…

I wonder if I could quote any Australian Prime Ministers: only one comes to mind and his words are so unapologetically 70s – it’s way part of my childhood lexicon:

“Life Wasn’t Meant to be Easy”.

Well thanks Malcolm, you’re certainly a light and fluffy type.  And a statement like that gives you all manner of political walls for creating all manner of unhappy policies that the populace simply has to deal with:

Voter: Dear Prime Minister, my son has no shoes to walk to school.

PM: Life wasn’t meant to be easy.

Voter: Dear Prime Minister, my grandmother’s pension is not enough to pay her bills.

PM: Life wasn’t meant to be easy.

Voter: Dear Prime Minister, we insist on fair voting.

PM: Life wasn’t meant to be easy.

Voter: Dear Mr President, my son has no shoes to walk to school.

President: Energy and persistence conquer all things.

I much prefer this sagely tone behind Benjamin Franklin’s quote, and that it’s a favourite of Juliet Annerino is no surprise.

This is one clever woman with a tenacious passion for creating truth where there have been lies, in supporting victims of sexual harassment, assault and abuse whose tongues have been tied and hands sat on, for far too long.

Using Blockchain technology to create a system where in order to protect your reputation, you gotta keep your hands to yourself.

Brava!
