From their website:

OmiseGO enables financial inclusion and interoperability through the public, decentralized OMG network.  Next generation financial network and decentralized economy.

The OMG network is a scaling solution for finance on Ethereum, enabling transparent, peer-to-peer transactions in real-time. The decentralized network facilitates self-sovereign financial services across geographies, asset classes and applications.

Basically you get to send money to other people, without having to use a bank account, and those people can be in anywhere in the world where there’s an internet connection!

The OmiseGo crowdsale started in May, 2017, with a total raised of $25 million.  An important step for the development of ICO’s: OmiseGo was already a mainstream business and chose the model of an ICO to raise funds, rather than the usual avenues of borrowing from banks etc.

They plan to become the next big mobile payment processor for Asia, representing both fiat (regular cash currency) and cryptocurrencies.

Featuring an Ethereum-based network and wallet, their idea is to offer customers an easy and quick way to send money without having to rely on a classic bank as the 3rd party.
